IMI Designs ltd. consists of a specialized firm aim toward the snowboarding industry. The goal is to standardize freestyle snowboarding through designing, consulting, and constructing snowboard facilities around the world. With experience rooted extensively in the snowboarding industry, we represent only the most progressive work done in the field. By providing customized facilities and programs, IMI works for the ultimate success of its clients. Our widespread services offer anywhere from designing and construction an entire mountain to the organization of its promotional events. IMI sees to it that all facets are covered, ensuring the projects ultimate success.

the start

In 1993, at Snowmass, located in Aspen , Colorado , IMI helped develop the first half-pipe cutting machine creating the first “super-pipe” in snowboarding's history. We also developed what was to become one of the first terrain parks at Tieack Buttermilk in Aspen , Colorado . With jumps, rails, snake runs, with hips and corners, and the ability to double as a board-o-cross, Tieack Buttermilk was one of the first terrain parks of its kind. Standardizing the half-pipe and terrain parks, we began to envision the future of snowboarding becoming more efficient and bigger than ever.

how it works >

preliminary inspection

In order to create the best facility possible, members of our design crew travel to the indicated mountain for a preliminary inspection of the area. After careful considerations of multiple variables and standards, we are able to give the best suggestions possible for a successful snowboard facility.

computer design

After the preliminary inspection has been completed, IMI begins the designing process. By use of computer imaging and topographical maps, our engineers are able to create and test a variety of facilities allowing only the best one to be chosen. Among this process, the mountain will receive several safety standard tests ensuring its enjoyable, yet thrilling outcome.

earth and snow construction and observation

IMI's construction and design crew are involved in all phases of the facility's construction. The basic structure of the park is built in dirt and the final designs are created with snow. Through this step-by-step process, possible problems such as drainage and erosion are sought out and solved before they develop on their own. These proper construction and maintenance programs are imperative for the facility's success.

maintenance

Up until now, snowboard facilities have received only the poorest maintenance standards. Because of this, many ski areas risk the loss of huge investments and people tend to lack any interest in their parks. However, IMI proves that when the proper maintenance and detail in design are enforced, the area in turn receives a higher prestige and increases in popularity. We have created specialized maintenance programs that run with ease and minimal supervision, keeping the client's costs down while launching profits upward.

finished product

IMI designs ltd. achieves nothing less than the highest standards in design, earth/snow construction and machinery utilized. By coupling creative minds with modern technology, IMI has carved the path to the future in freestyle snowboarding providing its clients with only the best facilities.
